How we handle your personal information.

William James Wealth Management is committed to protecting the privacy of every person who contacts us through this website. This notice explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.

Who we are

William James Wealth Management Limited (we, us, our) is the controller of personal data collected through this website. We are an Appointed Representative of ValidPath Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under Firm Reference Number 197107.

Our registered office is Threefield House, Threefield Lane, Southampton, SO14 3LP. Our trading address is Seafarers Court, 12-14 Queens Terrace, Southampton SO14 3SG.

The information and guidance provided within this website is subject to the UK regulatory regime and is therefore primarily targeted at consumers based in the UK.

What we collect

We only collect personal data that you actively choose to share with us through the website. We do not buy data, we do not enrich it from third-party sources, and we do not use cross-site tracking.

  • Arrange a private conversation (modal): your name, email, optional telephone, the situation bracket you selected, the wealth bracket you selected, the primary goal you selected, and any free-text notes you add.
  • Contact form (/contact): your name, email, optional telephone, and message.
  • Careers application (/careers): your name, email, the role you selected, an optional LinkedIn URL, and your message.
  • Newsletter signup: your email address.
  • Analytics: if you consent through the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 receives anonymised information about your visit (page views, approximate location at country level, device type, the page that referred you). IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage. We never identify individual visitors through analytics.
Why we collect it (lawful basis)

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, every piece of personal data we hold requires a lawful basis. We rely on the following:

  • Legitimate interests for form submissions where you have asked us to respond. We use the data only to reply to your enquiry and, where relevant, to onboard you as a client.
  • Consent for the newsletter and for Google Analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing from a newsletter email or by rejecting analytics in the cookie banner.
  • Legal obligation where we are required to retain records of advice and client communications under FCA rules.
Who else sees your data (third-party processors)

A small number of carefully chosen suppliers process personal data on our behalf. Each one is contractually obliged to handle data in line with UK GDPR.

  • Formspree (We Codify Inc., USA) receives every form submission and forwards it to us by email. Data is transferred to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses. See Formspree's privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) provides us with aggregated traffic statistics, only after you consent through the cookie banner. IP anonymisation is enabled.
  • Vercel (Vercel Inc., USA) hosts this website and aggregates anonymous performance data. No personal data is collected by Vercel beyond standard server logs.
How long we keep it
  • Enquiries that do not become clients are deleted from our systems within 12 months of the last contact.
  • Client records are retained for the duration of the relationship and for at least 7 years after the relationship ends, as required by FCA rules.
  • Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months and then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscribers remain on the list until you unsubscribe. We do not retain the email once you have unsubscribed.
Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how we use your data (this notice).
  • Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Request that we correct inaccurate data.
  • Request that we delete your data, where there is no overriding legal obligation for us to keep it.
  • Restrict or object to certain types of processing.
  • Withdraw consent for processing where we relied on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use a small set of cookies and similar technologies on this website:

  • Essential cookies remember your cookie preference. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics cookies(Google Analytics 4) are only set after you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner. Selecting "Reject" prevents any analytics cookies from being placed.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's storage for this site, which will re-show the consent banner.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. Any change will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be communicated by email to clients and newsletter subscribers.
